INT. PIKE'S BUILDING - HALLWAY - NEXT
Connor is in front of Pike's door. He picks his foot and
rears back to kick the door down.
PIKE (O.S.)
Watch out!
Connor freezes.
CONNOR
(confused)
What?
BAM! Kaia crashes through the door, breaking it to pieces.
She lands on Connor, knocking him to the ground. Connor yelps
and throws her down the hall. She gets back up and snarls at
him before disappearing down the stairs.
Connor rolls over to his stomach and softly drops his
forehead on the ground, panting.
His head pops back up.
CONNOR
Pike!
He gets to his feet and runs into Pike's place.
INT. PIKE'S APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - NEXT
Pike (upper body only) climbs back through the broken window.
The second he's back in, he collapses forward.
Connor catches him and sits him down, leaning him against the
wall.
PIKE
(gasping)
Kaia...she...
CONNOR
(taking his jacket off)
I know.
Connor drapes the jacket over Pike's genitalia and gets out
his phone, quickly dialing a number.
CONNOR
(into phone)
Gabriella, we've got a big big
problem.
Pike's eyes flutter just before he passes out, falling over
and landing on his shoulder.
EXT. PIKE'S BUILDING - NEXT
The kids' dodgeball game is still going.
Kaia bursts through the front door, sending the children
screaming and running for safety.
Kaia bounds into the street and runs off into the night.
BLACK OUT.
END OF ACT ONE
ACT TWO
FADE IN.
EXT. CITY STREET - NIGHT
Kaia is sprinting full speed down the middle of the street.
Her body is lit up by a set of oncoming headlights.
The off screen car blows its horn.
Kaia doesn't break stride, running up and OVER the car, which
swerves to the side and crashes into a parked car.
Kaia stops and sniffs the air before running down a side
street.
EXT. CEDAR SINAI HOSPITAL - NIGHT
A taxi pulls up to the entrance of the building. Gabriella
gets out, quickly pays the driver, and runs into the
building.
INT. CEDAR SINAI HOSPITAL - FIRST FLOOR - CONTINUOUS
Gabriella gets to a nurse's desk, cutting in front of several
people who protest.
GABRIELLA
(to the nurse)
I'm looking for Oliver Pike.
NURSE
Excuse me, ma'am, but you're going
to have to wait in line.
GABRIELLA
What?!? My friend was badly hurt in
an accident and I need to know-
CONNOR (O.S.)
Gabriella!!
Gabriella looks down the hall, where Connor is flagging her
down.
They rush up to each other.
GABRIELLA
(frantic)
Is he okay?
CONNOR
They're patching him up now. He's
pretty banged up, but nothing
serious. Lost some blood, so they
need to do a transfusion.
Gabriella exhales and pats her chest, relieved. Connor puts
his hand on her back and motions down the hall. They start
walking.
GABRIELLA
Thank God.
CONNOR
Yeah, he was lucky.
GABRIELLA
How did this happen?
CONNOR
(shakes her head)
I don't know. He passed out before
he could tell me anything.
He pushes a swinging door open into:
INT. CEDAR SINAI HOSPITAL - INTENSIVE CARE UNIT - CONTINUOUS
They continue walking until Connor stops at one closed door.
Gabriella peeks into the small window.
Inside, doctors are stitching up Pike, whose eyes are rolled
up and fluttering. A morphine drip runs down a line into his
arm.
Gabriella tears herself away, not wanting to see anymore.
GABRIELLA
I thought you said nothing serious.
CONNOR
(stern)
And I meant it.
(points to the door)
That could've been a whole lot
worse.
Gabriella takes a seat in a chair opposite the door, running
her hands through her hair.
Connor walks over and kneels down in front of her. She looks
up to meet his eyes.
CONNOR
Stay with him.
He stands back up and strides for the exit.
GABRIELLA
Where are you going?
CONNOR
(not looking back)
Hunting.
Gabriella stands back, not liking that answer.
GABRIELLA
You can't stop her by yourself.
CONNOR
(throws the door open)
Wasn't planning on it.
And he's gone. The door swings back and forth, each time
showing him further and further down the hall until he's out
of sight.
Gabriella sits back down and crosses her arms. She leans her
head back against the wall and swallows a lump in her throat.
INT. BUTCHER SHOP - MEAT LOCKER - NIGHT
PAN across several hanging racks of raw meat to Kaia, who has
one huge slab on the ground and half eaten already.
She tears at it with a rabid ferocity never seen from her in
wolf form before.
INT. BUTCHER SHOP - MAIN FLOOR - MOMENTS LATER
Kaia stalks out of the back area past the counter. She steps
over a still body laid out on the ground.
As she moves past it and out of frame, PUSH IN on the body.
It's a heavy set man in a butcher's apron. There's a pool of
blood around his body.
EXT. SINCAID HOME - NIGHT
Connor knocks on the front door. It's opened by NICK SINCAID,
who scowls when he sees who it is.
NICK
What do you want?
CONNOR
Is your mother home?
NICK
No.
Nick tries to slam the door. Connor kicks it open, grabs Nick
by the neck, and effortlessly HURLS him off the porch to the
front lawn.
INT. SINCAID HOME - LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Connor strides into the home and enters the living room. He
neatly sidesteps JOSH SINCAID, who tries to jump him from
behind.
Connor grabs him by his shirt and slams him up against the
wall.
CONNOR
You people aren't very discreet.
JOSH
(wincing)
You're one to talk.
(smirks)
Who needs discretion when you have
numbers on your side?
Several GROWLS from behind get Connor to look around. Kaia's
siblings, all of them except Josh and Colby, are surrounding
him.
Their eyes are all black.
Connor spins and throws Josh into ALICIA. He turns and blocks
a punch from Nick, countering with a headbutt that drops the
boy to the ground.
CLAIRE (O.S.)
Stop!
ARC around to show CLAIRE SINCAID standing at the door
leading down to the basement. She's wrapped in a bathrobe and
looking mightily pissed.
CLAIRE
Stop this right now!
Connor backs off of Nick and turns to Claire.
CONNOR
Thanks.
CLAIRE
Don't thank me, young man. Just
give me one reason why I shouldn't
ring the dinner bell right now.
CONNOR
Kaia's in trouble.
There's a long silence.
CLAIRE
Kids, go to your rooms.
ALICIA
But Mom-
A deep bass tints Claire's voice when she yells:
CLAIRE
Now!
The kids obey, all of them stealing one last look at Connor
as they go upstairs.
Claire looks at them until the last one is out of sight
before turning back to Connor.
CLAIRE
What about Kaia?
CONNOR
She changed. Attacked Pike.
CLAIRE
(beat)
And this is a bad thing?
CONNOR
Yes, because she wouldn't have done
that if she were in control of
herself.
This gets Claire to drop her stern expression.
CLAIRE
You mean...she changed against her
will?
CONNOR
I wasn't there when it happened,
but that's the only explanation.
Now she's out there on the streets.
I need you and your family to help
me find her.
CLAIRE
(shrugs)
Well, at least she'll be full in
the morning.
Connor is almost floored by her response.
CONNOR
Full? You think she might eat
someone?
CLAIRE
Does it here all the time. Now she
actually has to hunt the live
meals.
That's a huge revelation on Connor, who has to take a moment
to process it. He bites his lip and shakes his head.
CONNOR
If anything, that's all the more
reason why we need to go stop her.
CLAIRE
And why is that exactly?
CONNOR
Because she could get hurt, or a
lot of other people could.
Claire crosses her arms and sighs.
CLAIRE
Well, if that happens, it's on her
shoulders. She should be more
careful about controlling her
changes.
CONNOR
You can't be serious. You're not
going after her?
Claire shakes her head.
CONNOR
She's your daughter! Doesn't that
mean anything to you?
CLAIRE
(cold)
She also helped kill my husband.
(beat)
I love Kaia. She's my oldest girl,
but understand that I've given
birth to thirty seven children
since her.
CONNOR
(bitter)
So she's expendable, is that it?
Just another face in the litter.
CLAIRE
In our culture, it's considered an
accomplishment to even make it to
your eighteenth birthday. I've had
to bury more than one of those
thirty eight myself.
(beat; nonchalant)
Quite frankly, I've grown
accustomed to it.
Connor can't take anymore, just shaking his head and walks
away.
CONNOR
(bitter)
Some family.
He gets to the door when Claire calls out to him.
CLAIRE
Another thing to understand. The
longevity of our people is
dependent on not revealing our
existence to the populace. To send
my clan out and risk that...
(sighs)
Even as the Alpha of this clan, she
can be replaced. Kaia's life is not
worth that much.
CONNOR
(not looking back)
It is to the people that love her.
He SLAMS the door, leaving Claire standing in the middle of
the room.
PAN over to the staircase to see Josh looking down,
eavesdropping.
INT. CEDAR SINAI ICU - PIKE'S ROOM - NIGHT
Pike is sleeping peacefully in a raised bed. Gabriella is
sitting in a chair next to him.
He starts to stir. Gabriella is at his side in a flash.
GABRIELLA
Pike?
Pike opens his eyes and groans. Finally, he comes to and
snaps up to a sitting position.
PIKE
Kaia!
Gabriella wraps her arms around his chest to keep him from
moving.
GABRIELLA
Pike, it's okay. Calm down.
Pike looks to Gabriella, squinting. He looks around the room,
finally realizing where he is.
He lets Gabriella lay him back down, taking a deep breath.
PIKE
What's the diagnosis?
GABRIELLA
You're going to be fine. Doctors
said no serious injuries.
(beat)
Pike, did...did Kaia bite you?
Pike looks over at her. He knows the implicit meaning of the
question. He looks back up at the ceiling.
PIKE
No. At least I don't remember it
happening.
Gabriella exhales, letting go of a breath she was likely
holding since Connor first called her.
PIKE
Where is she now?
GABRIELLA
I don't know. Connor went after
her.
Pike sits up and turns to Gabriella, disturbed by that news.
PIKE
He can't stop her alone!
GABRIELLA
That's what I said. He said he
wasn't going to do it alone.
Pike lies back on his back again, the gravity of the
situation really setting in.
Gabriella reaches up and grabs his hand, squeezing it for
support.
INT. WAREHOUSE - BOTTOM FLOOR - NIGHT
A wide open space in the center of the bottom floor is
surrounding by mile high stacks of crates and a metal balcony
that stretches across the entire warehouse.
All the lights are turned off. Connor slowly creeps into the
open space.
CONNOR
(echoing)
Hello!
(beat)
Anyone home?
A young girl dressed in ratty street clothes appears behind
him, twirling a long staff.
Connor drops into a fighting stance.
She twirls the staff around her body just before she takes a
swing at Connor.
He ducks and rolls to the side. The girl resets, twirling the
staff again, circling Connor.
She attacks again, this time a lunging stab. Connor
sidesteps, grabs the stick, and delivers a reaping circle
kick to the center of the stick, breaking it in two.
He takes one piece and she takes the other.
Now they're both twirling weapons.
Connor is first to attack, slapping his stick against hers.
She throws the blow off and swings wildly back at him.
The pops of the clashing sticks echo in the cavernous room.
Connor stops blocking her stick with his, now skillfully
ducking and dodging every swing.
He backflips, his feet kicking her stick out of her hands and
into the air.
He lands from the flip on the ground with his legs in a
vertical split, swinging the back leg around and sweeping the
girl to the ground.
He continues to spin into a break dancer like neck roll,
rolling to his feet.
The other stick falls into his free hand. The girl gets back
to her feet.
Connor hits her with a lightning fast combination, back
fisting her in the face with one stick and finishing with the
second coming forward across her jaw.
She's knocked for a loop by the blows and falls to her back,
out cold.
Connor tosses both sticks to the ground and looks around the
room.
CONNOR
(calling out)
Anyone else home?
All the lights in the warehouse cut on, forcing Connor to
shield his eyes.
On the balcony, a dozen more people around Connor's age
appear, all holding guns and crossbows aimed down at him.
Connor looks around, seeing he's caught.
ANGLE ON the balcony as one woman steps forward, the only one
without a weapon. She's a redhead in her thirties and judging
by her expression, she recognizes Connor immediately.
CONNOR
(waves)
Hey, Justine. How ya been?
JUSTINE COOPER can't believe the sight in front of her. It's
been years.
JUSTINE
Stephen?
Connor points to the girl he just defeated.
CONNOR
Might wanna work on your security.
(beat)
Got a minute?
A man standing next to Justine looks to her for an
explanation. She just holds her stare on Connor.
EXT. AMPHITHEATER - ROOFTOP - NIGHT
Kaia prowls along the edge of the scaffolding that makes up
the roof of the stage. There's some ROCK MUSIC coming from
below her.
CUT TO an overhead shot. There's a mass of people, at least a
couple hundred, gathered in front of a stage with a band and
speaker towers. A concert.
CLOSE UP of Kaia, snarling. Blood drips from an entrail
hanging out of her mouth.
BLACK OUT.
END OF ACT TWO
ACT THREE
FADE IN.
INT. CEDAR SINAI ICU - PIKE'S ROOM - NIGHT
Pike is still on his back in bed, looking up at the
television hanging in the corner.
Gabriella has the bedside remote and is flipping through
channels.
After awhile, she sets it down.
GABRIELLA
Well, no news on her.
(beat)
I guess that's a good thing,
though.
PIKE
(shakes his head)
I don't get it. How'd she change
like that? I mean it's never
happened before.
GABRIELLA
There's a full moon out.
PIKE
(looks at her)
What? There was already one earlier
this month. Kaia was in that hotel.
GABRIELLA
(thinks)
It's a blue moon.
PIKE
A what?
GABRIELLA
A second full moon inside a month.
It happens ever so often.
(beat)
Maybe Kaia just...forgot.
Pike shakes his head, not wanting to believe that.
INT. JUSTINE'S WAREHOUSE - OFFICE AREA - NIGHT
Justine leads Connor through a maze of carpeted hallways.
JUSTINE
You look good, kid. How'd you find
me?
CONNOR
I used to squat in a warehouse near
here. Last time I was over this
way, I caught your scent.
JUSTINE
And you didn't drop in to say
hello? I'm hurt.
CONNOR
Didn't have have anything to say.
Justine opens a door and lets Connor into:
INT. JUSTINE'S WAREHOUSE - MAIN OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
Connor sits down in front of the desk. The entire room is
bare except for the weapons laid out on it.
Stakes, guns, crossbows, knives. Rambo would be jealous.
Justine sits down at the desk across from Connor.
JUSTINE
I'm guessing you have something to
say now, so say it.
CONNOR
I need your help. A friend of mine
is in trouble.
Justine laughs.
JUSTINE
I don't hear from you since we
Jimmy Hoffa'd Angel, then you just
drop in and ask for my help?
CONNOR
That's right.
JUSTINE
Is it dangerous?
CONNOR
Isn't it always?
Justine leans back in her chair and strokes her chin,
thinking.
JUSTINE
What's in it for me?
CONNOR
The satisfaction of helping an old
friend?
Justine gives him a withering look.
CONNOR
Did I mention the substantial
money?
Justine leans forward in her chair. Now he's talking.
INT. JUSTINE'S WAREHOUSE - BOTTOM FLOOR - NEXT
Back in the area Connor first came in at.
Two girls are enclosed by the rest of Justine's gang,
sparring.
The crowd cheers on the action. Justin breaks through the
circle and walks to the center, pushing the two girls apart.
JUSTINE
(screaming)
Listen up!
The noise dies down and the girls go to the perimeter with
the others. Connor stands in the circle as well.
JUSTINE
We've got a job tonight.
(points to Connor)
An old friend needs some help
taking down a werewolf and he's
offering a lot of money. Let's gear
up!
CONNOR
(calling out)
Wait!
Connor walks to the center next to Justine.
CONNOR
Just so we're all clear, no guns.
Justine looks to Connor in shock. The rest of the group
vocally protests as well.
CONNOR
(holds his hands out)
Hey!
(beat)
You wanna get paid, you do this my
way. This is control and capture,
not seek and destroy.
(turns to Justine)
Hurt, don't kill. That wolf dies
and not only do you not get paid,
but I will personally take payments
of out of each and every one of
your asses.
There's a long moment of silence. Noone dares to challenge
Connor's threat.
JUSTINE
You heard the man. Let's move.
The crowd scatters in several directions. Justine grabs
Connor's arm and turns him to face her.
JUSTINE
My people are trained to look out
for one another. That wolf gets one
of them in trouble, noone here will
hesitate to pull the trigger.
(beat)
Including me. You better hope your
pet bitch comes along peacefully.
She stalks off, leaving Connor to think about whether this
was a good idea or not.
EXT. AMPHITHEATER - MAIN STAGE - NIGHT
The band is about as stereotypical a rock band as possible. A
bunch of long haired skinny guys wearing dingy rock band t
shirts, tattered jeans, and long sleeve shirts tied around
their waists.
The music's so loud in the speakers that the lead singer (or
screamer) can barely be heard.
The crowd is full of mosh pits and headbangers. It's a
throwback to the early nineties.
The song finishes up and the crowd erupts with applause and
cat calls.
LEAD SINGER
(screaming into the mic)
Thank you, Los Angeles! We love
you!
Several people in the crowd SHRIEK when Kaia drops down on
top of one of the speaker towers, growling and scanning the
crowd.
The lead singer backs away from Kaia to the bass player.
LEAD SINGER
(in a harsh whisper)
Dude, JD didn't tell us about this.
ON two kids in the crowd.
KID 1
(in awe)
Dude...
KID 2
(also in awe)
Awesome...
Back on stage.
BASS PLAYER
(stoner voiced)
Must be a promotional thing, bro.
Kaia turns to the band, now sizing them up. She leaps off the
tower and dives onto the drummer!
The singer backs up, grasping at the bass player's shirt. Off
screen, the drummer's screams are ear splitting.
LEAD SINGER
(frightened)
I don't think so, dude!
They run off the stage.
ANGLE ON a set of television cameras next to a news van,
filming the whole scene.
