                                       ACT TWO

               FADE IN.

               EXT. PIKE'S BUILDING - NIGHT

               Two black vans squeal to a stop in front of Pike's complex
               and several more SWAT team members hop out.

               ZOOM PAN UP to a window on the top floor. Pike sticks his
               bandaged head out and sighs.

                                   PIKE
                             (calling out)
                         Gab, night's not over yet!

               He ducks back into his place.

               INT. VACANT APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - NEXT

               A heavily coughing Connor, pulls his sword free and manages
               to yank the gas mask off of one SWAT member. He tosses it
               over to Colleen, who quickly puts it on. 

               Laurence, his eyes GLOWING a fiery orange, roars and barges
               into the other two SWAT members. He lands top of one, yanks
               his mask office, and tosses it over to Connor. Then he
               quickly SNAPS the guy's neck.

               The last remaining opponent is struggling to get his cable
               off his waist as he gets back to his feet. Connor delivers a
               back spinning roundhouse to his chest, sending him flying
               back and out the window.

               Laurence grabs the nearby dining table and uses that to
               barricade the broken window. Connor and Colleen block another
               with a bookshelf.

                                   LAURENCE
                         Let's go!

               They duck out into:

               INT. PIKE'S BUILDING - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

               All three turn towards the elevator and stop cold when they
               noticed two more SWAT coming in from the stairwell. 

               The two men suddenly FLY towards them. Connor, Colleen, and
               Laurence duck down, letting them sail overhead.

               Connor looks up to see Gabriella and Pike just getting off
               the elevator.

                                   GABRIELLA
                         You all okay?

                                   CONNOR
                             (rushed)
                         Fine, but there's too many to get
                         away on foot. 
                             (to Pike)
                         Pike, is there sewer access to this
                         building?

                                   PIKE
                         Yeah, but it's on the first floor.
                         They gotta be there waiting for us.

               Connor thinks for a moment before rushing up to the elevator.

                                   CONNOR
                         Not if they think we're somewhere
                         else.

               He hits the button for the top floor and steps back out,
               letting the carriage leave without him aboard.

               INT. PIKE'S BUILDING - FIRST FLOOR - NEXT

               A group of SWAT guys enter the building. One of them stops
               and sees the numbers on the elevator rising.

                                   RANDOM SWAT MEMBER
                         Top floor! Let's move!

               They rush up the stairs.

               INT. PIKE'S BUILDING - HALLWAY - NEXT

               Connor pulls the elevator doors apart by hand, exposing the
               empty shaft.

                                   CONNOR
                             (waves the others forward)
                         Alright, come on!

               Pike rolls his eyes as he, Gabriella, Laurence, and Colleen
               join Connor at the shaft.

                                   PIKE
                         What am I, a chimp?

               He steps out first, grabbing the ladder just to the side of
               the doorway inside the shaft and starts climbing down.
               Laurence follows, then Colleen. 

               Gabriella looks to Connor.

                                   GABRIELLA
                         What about you?

                                   CONNOR
                         Gonna get us some wheels.

               Gabriella steps into the shaft and swings her body around to
               the ladder.

                                   GABRIELLA
                         They've got your car covered.

                                   CONNOR
                         Then I'll borrow one of theirs. Go!

               Gabriella starts descending. Connor runs back down the hall
               towards the apartment the Reillys were in. Two more SWAT step
               out from the stairs and open fire on Connor. 

               Connor dives into the apartment to avoid the bullets.

               INT. VACANT APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

               Connor drags the couch over and blocks the front door with
               it. On the other side, SWAT can be heard trying to knock the
               door down.

               Then the sound of two guns cocking is heard. Connor drops to
               his stomach as they shoot through the wall, hoping to hit
               him.

               The hostage SWAT guy, still tied to his chair, falls into
               frame next to Connor.

               Connor glances at him and smiles as he grabs his nearby broad
               sword.

               When the gunfire stops and Connor hears them banging on the
               door again, he gets up and unties his hostage from the chair,
               still leaving his wrists and ankles tied together.

               Connor drags him down the hall into:

               INT. VACANT APARTMENT - BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

               Connor drops his captive and runs over to another window.
               Over his shoulder, we see one of the vans parked on the side
               of the street.

               INT. PIKE'S BUILDING - FIRST FLOOR - NEXT

               The elevator doors open enough for Pike to stick his head out
               and make sure the coast is clear. Once he sees that it is, he
               opens them all the way, letting the others out.

               They cross the hall into:

               INT. PIKE'S BUILDING - RECREATION ROOM - CONTINUOUS

               Pike rushes over and flips over a table in the far left
               corner. He pulls the rug that was under the table away and
               opens up a TRAP DOOR in the floor that he waves the others
               into.

               INT. VACANT APARTMENT - BEDROOM - NEXT

               Connor goes back and yanks the bound man to his feet.

                                   CONNOR
                             (smirks)
                         Congratulations, dude. You just
                         become my landing pad.

                                   SWAT GUY
                         What are you talking about?

               Connor drags the man near the window.

                                   SWAT GUY
                         No!

               Connor HURLS the man out the window and jumps right out after
               him.

               EXT. PIKE'S BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

               Connor is essentially surfing on the screaming SWAT guy as
               they rapidly approach the van we saw earlier.

               The SWAT guy crashes THROUGH the roof of the van, sparing
               Connor the nasty impact.

               INSIDE THE VAN

               Connor lands in a squat and rolls forward towards the shocked
               driver. The driver tries to aim his gun at Connor, but Connor
               swings his sword and slices the man's gun hand clean off his
               arm!

               The man screams and grabs at his fresh amputation. Connor
               holds the sword to his throat.

                                   CONNOR
                         Quit whining, it's just a scratch,
                         now drive!

               The driver reaches over with his left hand and starts the
               van. Connor puts it into gear for him and they pull off into
               the streets.

               Once they're about a block away, Connor turns to the driver.

                                   CONNOR
                         Tip of advice for you. If you roll,
                         the landing doesn't hurt as much. 

               Connor opens the driver's side door and KICKS the driver out.
               He tumbles to a stop as Connor gets control of the wheel and
               turns down a side street.

               He checks the mirror to see several more vans are in pursuit
               a couple of blocks back.

               CUT TO an alley between two buildings. The cover over a sewer
               is pushed off and Pike climbs out. He offers a hand to an
               emerging Colleen just as Connor's van enters the alley.

               Connor stops and throws the door open.

                                   CONNOR
                         Get in!

               They all pile in just as the other vans turn into the alley.
               Connor floors it and they pull back into the streets.

               INSIDE THE VAN

               Connor checks the mirror again and rolls his eyes.

                                   CONNOR
                         One of these today was enough.

               He takes a sharp turn.

                                   CONNOR
                         Not doing it again!

               He runs a red light, narrowly avoiding an accident before
               taking another turn down an adjacent street.

                                   CONNOR
                         There we go.

               Pike comes up to the front passenger seat and looks out the
               front windshield.

                                   PIKE
                             (frowns)
                         What're you talking about? That's
                         the lake right there.

                                   CONNOR
                             (grins)
                         I know.

               ZOOM OUT to see the street they're on runs out at the
               intersection of a bridge over a large lake. 

               Back inside the van, the others now see where Connor's going.

                                   PIKE
                         Uh, Connor?

               Connor doesn't respond. His eyes are locked on the road.

                                   GABRIELLA
                         Connor?

               They're right up at the intersection now.

                                   EVERYONE BUT CONNOR
                         Connor!!

               The van CRASHES through the stone barricade and splashes down
               into the lake about fifty feet below.

               UNDERWATER

               Connor and the others swim out of the open windows of the
               van. Connor waves for them to follow him and swims towards an
               submerged pipe.

               When they're a few feet from it, the flow of water sucks them
               into the pipe. They move at high speed through the pipe and
               pop out at:

               INT. SEWER - CONTINUOUS

               The pipe they're dumped out in is just one of many built into
               the walls that dumps water into a large pool about twenty
               feet down. 

               All five of them scream as they freefall into the pool. They
               quickly surface and swim for dry land. Once they're on the
               cold cement, Pike is up and he's hopping mad, yelling and
               trying to shake himself dry.

                                   CONNOR
                             (between gasps)
                         Everyone okay?

                                   PIKE
                             (irate)
                         Okay?!? You think I woke up this
                         morning and thought to myself, ya
                         know, I haven't been shot at
                         lately. But thankfully, today I've
                         had magic thrown at me, gotten my
                         body snatched, got my ass kicked,
                         and now I get dumped into a
                         friggin' sewer!

               He huffs and puffs while everyone else stays uncomfortably
               silent.

                                   GABRIELLA
                             (beat)
                         Feel better now?

               Pike calms down in the span of about two beats.

                                   PIKE
                         Yeah, I'm good, just needed to get
                         that out. Thanks.

               He doubles over and catches his breath again.

                                   GABRIELLA
                             (to Connor)
                         How'd you know-

                                   CONNOR
                         Dad's memoirs. He drew a map of
                         LA's sewer system, I guess in case
                         anyone needed to get around.

                                   LAURENCE
                         I did what?

                                   CONNOR
                         Not you, my other dad.
                             (beat; blinks)
                         One of my other dads. 
                             (shakes his head)
                         Forget it, just strip.

               Colleen and Laurence swap confused looks.

                                   LAURENCE
                         What?

                                   CONNOR
                             (deadpan)
                         Strip. Both of you. Guy back there
                         mentioned changing your clothes.
                         I'm assuming you have tracking
                         devices on you somewhere.

               The Reillys share another puzzled look.

               INT. CONNOR'S OLD WAREHOUSE - NEXT

               A large grate built into the wall swings open, letting
               Connor, Pike, Gabriella, and the (naked) Reillys into
               Connor's old haunt.

               Connor steps out into the open space and turns to address
               everyone else.

                                   CONNOR
                             (to the Reillys)
                         Alright, I'm gonna go get you two
                         some clothes because... it's cold
                         in here.

               Laurence looks down and quickly covers his (out of frame)
               genitals with his hands. Colleen puts her arm across her
               chest.

                                   CONNOR
                             (to Gabriella)
                         You and Pike, go snatch my car. The
                         G.I. Jerks are probably chasing
                         their clothes down to San Pedro.
                         Should be clear.

               Gabriella and Pike nod.

               INT. EVE'S HIDEOUT - BEDROOM - NIGHT

               BRIDGET is wake, but noticeably not all there yet. Her eyes
               are glassy and her eyelids flutter up and down. EVE pulls a
               small syringe away from Bridget's arm as she talks into a
               cell phone.

                                   EVE
                             (into phone)
                         I understand. Bye.

               She hangs up. Bridget looks up at her kidnapper with tears in
               her eyes.

                                   BRIDGET
                             (slurred)
                         Why are you doing this?

                                   EVE
                         Because I need to, kid. You'll get
                         it someday.

               Eve kneels down to be eye level with Bridget. She gently
               strokes the young girl's hair.

                                   BRIDGET
                         Get... what?

                                   EVE
                         Well, put it this way. You and me,
                         we're two of a kind, kiddo. At some
                         point before we ever had a say in
                         the matter, someone decided we were
                         meant to be special. Different.

               Eve pulls her hand away and stands up, beginning to pace.

                                   EVE
                         And you'd think that'd be a good
                         thing, but it's not. Because the
                         moment we're chosen, we're not in
                         control of our lives anymore. We're
                         all cursed to be something greater.

                                   BRIDGET
                         Why?

                                   EVE
                         Why are we cursed? Because the big
                         wigs upstairs decide everything for
                         you. You think you've got choices,
                         but it's all orchestrated for you
                         to do what they want. You're
                         Pinocchio before Geppeto cut the
                         strings.

               Bridget smiles. She's clearly loopy on some apparently great
               tranquilizers.

                                   BRIDGET
                             (giggles)
                         Pinocchio.

                                   EVE
                             (smiles)
                         So young. 
                             (beat)
                         We never think anything genuine. Do
                         anything genuine. Feel anything
                         genuine. It's all laid out for us,
                         whether we realize or not.

               Eve kneels down to Bridget again.

                                   EVE
                         So let's say that you learn all
                         this and you go along with it, but
                         then something magical happens. You
                         feel something. Something so
                         powerful and wonderful that you
                         know it's real.
                             (beat; icily)
                         And then that's taken away from
                         you. You give up being special for
                         one true emotion, one thing, and
                         it's gone. And you're left with
                         nothing.

               Bridget lets her head hang upside down off the bed. She
               almost slides off, but Eve pushes her back on.

                                   BRIDGET
                         I wouldn't like that...

               Eve shakes her head.

                                   EVE
                         I didn't either.

               She fixes Bridget's hair again and we FLASH CUT TO:

               INT. APARTMENT BUILDING - HALLWAY - NEXT

               Connor pounds on a door until it's opened to reveal ALICIA
               SINCAID, who frowns when she sees who it is.

                                   ALICIA
                         What the hell do you want?

                                   CONNOR
                         Are all werewolves this ungrateful
                         to the people that save their
                         asses? Where's your sister?

               Kaia gently moves Alicia out of the way.

                                   KAIA
                         Make it quick. I've had a long day.

                                   CONNOR
                         I've got two naked old people
                         hiding out back at my old place.
                         Think I could borrow some of your
                         brother's clothes?

               Kaia blinks.

                                   KAIA
                             (beat)
                         Okay, run that by me one more time?
                         And why should I help you?

                                   CONNOR
                         Because I saved your life? And your
                         sister's?

                                   KAIA
                         Already repaid. Literally, in one
                         case. Try again.

               Connor thinks to himself before coming back with:

                                   CONNOR
                             (matter-of-fact)
                         Because we're friends.

                                   KAIA
                             (scoffs)
                         I don't have time for this.

               She tries to shut the door, but Connor stops that with his
               hand.

                                   CONNOR
                         Whoa, what's your problem?

                                   KAIA
                             (snapping)
                         Your attitude is my problem,
                         Connor.

               She swings the door open and steps out into the hall.

                                   CONNOR
                             (sing-song)
                         Hor...mones.

                                   KAIA
                         See? There you go again. Making
                         insensitive jokes every chance you
                         get.

                                   CONNOR
                         Okay, okay, I'm sorry!

               Kaia points his finger right in her face.

                                   KAIA
                         It's not just that. Ever since you
                         lost your soul, you've been
                         different. A lot more different
                         than I think anyone's willing to
                         acknowledge except me!

               She GROWLS when she says "me" and that gets Connor to back up
               a bit.

                                   CONNOR
                         Different? Come on! You think I
                         want to be out in the middle of the
                         night trying to save my fake family
                         that I thought were nice and
                         normal? Hell no, I don't! 

                                   KAIA
                         Then why are you?

                                   CONNOR
                             (throws his hands up)
                         I don't know! 'Cause no matter how
                         much I've fought it, something
                         keeps driving me to do these
                         things. To help people even when I
                         couldn't care less.

                                   KAIA
                         That thing is called Gabriella.

                                   CONNOR
                         It's not just her.

               Kaia rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.

                                   KAIA
                         Yeah, okay.

                                   CONNOR
                         Who are you to judge me? You who
                         almost ate your last boyfriend and
                         then pissed and moaned when he
                         wouldn't forgive you for it.

                                   KAIA
                         Okay, you're out of line. Again.

                                   CONNOR
                         No, you are. Otherwise, Pike would
                         know he's gonna be a dad in about a
                         month.

               And that knocks Kaia speechless. Can't argue that point.

                                   CONNOR
                         We're both stuck in tug-o-war
                         between two worlds when we'd really
                         rather not be in either. The
                         difference between you and me is I
                         got over trying to hide it from
                         everyone and hating myself a long
                         time ago.
                             (beat)
                         Now I'm sorry I've been an ass to
                         you. Sometimes I talk on auto
                         pilot. Pretty sure it's hereditary.
                         But you're still my friend, even if
                         you don't think I'm your friend
                         anymore. Otherwise, I'd have told
                         Pike by now.

               Kaia looks off to the side, taking all that in.

                                   CONNOR
                         Now will you help me?

               Kaia sighs and bows her head.

               EXT. CITY STREET - NIGHT

               The light at an intersection turns green and Kaia's car
               starts to move again. 

               Looking in from the front of the car, we see Alicia's in the
               back seat next to a stack of clothes and shoes. Kaia and
               Connor are sitting in the front with Kaia driving.

                                   ALICIA
                             (re: clothes)
                         Sure Josh and Mom won't mind you
                         stealing their clothes?

                                   KAIA
                         Mom probably will. I'll make it up
                         to her. Josh definitely will and
                         somehow I can't bring myself to
                         care.

               Alicia smirks. They're at a red light now and Connor's
               staring out into space.

                                   ALICIA
                             (to Connor)
                         What's up with you?

               Connor points out the window.

                                   CONNOR
                         Nothing, just... that's where their
                         car was found earlier today.
                         Just... seems like so long ago.
                         Everything's... different now.

               Alicia rolls her window down and lightly SNIFFS the night
               air. She crinkles her nose.

                                   ALICIA
                         Why was she here?

                                   CONNOR
                         What? Who?

                                   ALICIA
                         Hey, Kaia, pull over.

               Kaia parks and Alicia hops out of the car right next to the
               still quartered off crime scene.

                                   CONNOR
                         What is it?

                                   ALICIA
                         You don't smell it?

               Connor sniffs the air and pauses, trying to recall the scent.

                                   CONNOR
                         It's familiar, but I can't place
                         it.

                                   ALICIA
                             (turns to him)
                         Exactly how much class have you
                         been skipping lately?

               INT. PROFESSOR MARRUS'S HOME - OFFICE - NEXT

               Prof. Marrus ends a phone call and turns up the volume on the
               laptop on her desk. The screen faces away from us, but sounds
               of various sirens, car horns, and SCREAMING people are heard.

               She jots down a few notes on a pad and picks up a small tape
               recorder.

               The lights are off in the office, which is why a slight CREAK
               instantly puts her on edge. She stands up and looks around,
               setting the recorder down.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                             (wary)
                         Eric?

               She steps around the desk and looks around the room. 

               ARC AROUND to a shot looking directly at her as Connor steps
               out of the shadows of the corner of the room right behind
               her.

                                   CONNOR
                         Evening, Professor Marrus.

               Prof. Marrus spins around and GASPS when she sees Connor.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         Connor?
                             (laughs nervously)
                         What are you doing...?

                                   CONNOR
                         Why were you at the scene of the
                         kidnapping earlier?

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         I... I was curious about-

               In the blink of an eye, Connor grabs her by the throat and
               has her pressed up against the wall.

                                   CONNOR
                         I caught your scent at the cabin
                         too, but I couldn't place it then.
                         So don't tell me scientific
                         curiosity.

               Prof. Marrus GAGS slightly.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                             (raspy)
                         Connor, I can't breathe.

                                   CONNOR
                             (ignoring her)
                         Do you know where Bridget is?

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                             (between gasps)
                         Connor, you're hurting me.

                                   CONNOR
                             (screaming)
                         Answer me!

               Prof. Marrus vehemently shakes her head.

                                   CONNOR
                         What do you know about Bridget?
                         About the Reillys?

               Connor pulls her away from the wall and slams her into it
               again.

                                   CONNOR
                         What about Project Prodigy?

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                             (strained)
                         I... created it!

               Connor releases his grip and Prof. Marrus bends over at the
               waist, sucking air back into her lungs.

                                   CONNOR
                             (backing away)
                         What did you say?

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         I said-

               She clears her throat and stands up straight again.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         I created Project Prodigy. 

               PUSH IN on Connor's shocked face before a:

                                                             BLACK OUT.



                                   END OF ACT TWO
                                      ACT THREE

               FADE IN.

               INT. PROFESSOR MARRUS'S HOME - OFFICE - NIGHT

               Picking up right where we left off.

                                   CONNOR
                             (furious)
                         You work for Wolfram and Hart?

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                             (coolly)
                         Worked. Past tense. I haven't for a
                         long long time now.

               She goes over to her desk and sips from a full glass of water
               that was sitting next to her laptop.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         A few years ago, the company came
                         across a young telekinetic.
                         Bethany, if I recall. They wanted
                         to groom her to be an agent for
                         them, but the lawyer assigned to
                         her failed to keep her under their
                         wing.

               She pauses to get another sip from her glass of water. Connor
               motions with his hand for her to continue.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         Shortly after that, a group of us
                         were contracted to set up a whole
                         system designed to-

                                   CONNOR
                         Wipe memories of special kids and
                         place them in fake families with
                         guardians. Already know that. So
                         why haven't I pounded the piss out
                         of you yet?

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                             (ignoring him)
                         They commissioned a small group of
                         us to set it all up. I personally
                         selected you for the program
                         shortly after you were born.

                                   CONNOR
                         Not helping your case here.

                                   PROF. MARRUS
                         The Project's been in disarray ever
                         since our conglomerate split with
                         the downfall of the Black Thorn and
                         Ethan Rayne went rogue.

               Connor holds his hands up.

                                   CONNOR
                         Wait, Rayne was a part of this?

               Prof. Marrus nods and we SMASH CUT TO:
